Inglot Deals, Specials & Catalogues

A Polish cosmetics brand known for its bright, vibrant colours.

Inglot Cosmetics is a company founded by Polish chemist, Wojciech Inglot. Following his studies at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Wojciech started a plant that produced chemicals for the government in the early 80s. When the communist regime started to crumble, many government-run facilities started to close their doors and sell off their equipment, but Wojciech continued to invest in his factory, but changing the products he was producing. He managed to have some success in manufacturing a deodorant, but it was a trip to the US to visit family members that were a turning point for the entrepreneur. Whilst there, he noticed the market’s appetite for cosmetics, and upon returning to Poland, he launched a range of nail polishes that were an instant hit – and Inglot Cosmetics was born. Wojciech followed up this success by releasing a range lipsticks, blushes, and eyeshadows, selling and marketing his range to local supermarkets and retailers. Wojciech’s business flourished, but the newly opened market also attracted competition from other, more established players. Wojciech used innovative marketing techniques to keep his company going. He also decided to pull his products from the 3,000 stores that were stocking it and to start selling from his own independent stores instead. This ensured that he had full control over the way that the products were merchandised and sold.

After a slow start, it was a chance encounter with a Polish-Canadian entrepreneur that led to the brand’s expansion to other countries. Stores were opened in Canada, Dubai, Ireland, the UK and the US under a franchise model, and within a few years, Inglot was a global presence to be reckoned with in the colour cosmetics market. Today, Inglot’s range is sold from 700 locations, including standalone stores in Johannesburg’s Sandton City Mall and Cape Town’s Canal Walk Shopping Centre. The products are also listed in select Edgars and Red Square stores. One of the most popular items sold by Inglot is its Freedom System, which allows consumers to build and customise their own makeup palette.

95% of Inglot’s products are still manufactured in the company’s plant located in the small town of Przemysl in Poland.
