An Australian fashion startup that has grown into a global brand.
Forever New is an Australian clothing and accessories retailer that was started by Dipendra Goenka, his South African-born wife, Amanda Coote and business partner Tom Singh in 2006. Singh, in particular, brought significant fashion retailing experience to the partnership, having previously started the British chain New Look. The entrepreneurs named the company Forever New as a nod to their ability to bring the newest fashion trends to their stores on a weekly basis. While the store’s biggest segment is women in their 20s, the company strives to target a wider age range and stocks apparel that is suitable for everyone. The store ambience also reflects this by creating a relaxing and ethereal atmosphere to showcase its clothes.
In designing its collections of apparel, bags and accessories, Forever New draws inspiration from the runways of high-end fashion brands like Chanel Resort, Dior Resort and Valentino, as well as fashion trends seen in films, music and theatre. In addition to being the exclusive licensee of UK brands, such as Lipsy, Forever New also offers its own range of swimwear and lingerie. Forever New’s marketing campaigns have featured some of Australia’s top models such as Megan Irwin and Montana Cox. The company also developed an exclusive capsule wardrobe in collaboration with Kylie and Kendall Jenner in 2015. The company underwent a restructure in 2008 to better position itself for global expansion, but the ownership remained unchanged. Forever New currently has more than 300 stores in ten countries globally, including 40 locations in South Africa. The company’s headquarters are in Melbourne, Australia.
