Totalsports is a chain of sportswear stores that are owned and operated by The Foschini Group (TFG). The stores fall within the group’s sports division, but unlike its sister company, Sportscene, Totalsports focus is less on trendy streetwear and more on performance. The store’s range comprises the latest apparel, footwear and accessories targeted at the sports enthusiast, athlete, and trainer. Totalsports carries the leading brands in sportswear such as Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, TomTom, FitBit and more. Its sports strategy is mainly focused on football, running and fitness. The first Totalsports opened in 1982 and by the time it was acquired by TFG in 2000, had grown into a national retail chain.

Under TFG, Totalsports continued to flourish and the 300th store opened in the Mall of Africa in 2016. In addition to Totalsports’ usual products, this sleek and modern store also offers value-added services such as gait and foot analysis, sports bra fittings and general advice on health and wellness from their highly-trained staff Totalsports targets consumers in upper-income segments – the LSM 7 – 10 range. The retailer is involved in sponsoring sports events such the Totalsports Women’s Race, which is planned around the Women’s Day public holiday, as well as a partnership with the South African Football Association to build a youth development facility in Alexandra township. The stores are also the preferred distribution channel for country’s PSL football team jerseys. Totalsports was included in TFG’s online mall in July 2015, along with the other sports stores within the group.

Totalsports was voted number 1 in the Sports & Outdoor Category of The Times Sowetan Shopper Survey in 2016.
